Building on earlier cybersecurity lectures, this session focuses on protecting yourself from online scams and digital risks.

Topics include:

  • What these choices may mean for you
  • Limit data collection
  • Avoid identity theft
  • Recognize social and psychological manipulation
  • Prevent, detect, and remove malware
  • Make informed choices about service providers (internet, phone, TV, shopping, software)
  • Build personal backup and recovery systems

Information on free resources for further learning and individualized tech help will be shared. Snacks and refreshments provided. Registration encouraged.

Speaker: John Williams

John Williams has worked for 20+ years in Tech and holds an M.A. in Psychology.

John has a Master’s Degree in Psychology & Communications and has been teaching and building for the web since its earliest days. He is an AARP‑certified technology educator, passionate about making his wide range of knowledge in tech approachable, and its benefits accessible for all ages and skill levels.

He also enjoys iced tea and occasionally making instrumental music.
