This talk introduces FOSS (Free &amp; Open-Source Software), also known as “Libre” software. </p><h4>Topics include:</h4><ul>    <li>What FOSS is and why it matters</li>    <li>How you already use FOSS without realizing it</li>    <li>Differences between FOSS, paid, and proprietary software</li>    <li>Why some software is only partially open-source</li>    <li>Why FOSS exists, but is not well-known</li>    <li>Benefits and potential risks of both FOSS and non-FOSS software</li>    <li>How to use FOSS to meet individual needs</li>    <li>How FOSS can positively impact both digital and physical communities</li></ul><p>Information on free resources for further learning and individualized tech help will be shared. Snacks and refreshments provided. Registration encouraged.</p><h5>Speaker: John Williams</h5><p>John Williams has worked for 20+ years in Tech and holds an M.A. in Psychology.</p><p>John has a Master’s Degree in Psychology &amp; Communications and has been teaching and building for the web since its earliest days.
