What are Community Conversations?
Community conversations are collaborative gatherings designed to bring people together to share ideas, perspectives, and priorities about the future of a shared resource or organization. These sessions create a space for open dialogue, where participants can reflect on current services, identify emerging needs, and explore opportunities for growth and improvement.
A key purpose of these conversations is to inform and strengthen the strategic planning process for the coming years. The input gathered helps shape planning efforts by identifying community priorities, guiding decision-making, and ensuring that future goals and initiatives are aligned with evolving needs and expectations. By encouraging thoughtful discussion and active listening, community conversations help ensure that strategic plans are grounded in diverse perspectives and real experiences.
The insights collected ultimately support the development of a clear, responsive, and forward-looking strategy that reflects the values and aspirations of the community.

Nearly 100 residents participated in conversations between September and October 2025. Participants including parents, retirees, business owners, first responders, nonprofit and faith-based leaders, and people with lived experience of homelessness. While participants held diverse viewpoints, there was strong agreement that Loveland needs a clear, coordinated response to homelessness.

The reports from our 2019 and 2021 Community Conversations include quotes and themes we heard from the 100s of people who shared their thoughts with us including two conversations with young people who serve on the Youth Advisory Board and Library’s Teen Advisory Board, along with seniors, parents of young children, millennials and empty nesters. It includes the voices of people who have lived in Loveland for many years, and newcomers who choose to move to Loveland to be close to family and enjoy our beautiful outdoor opportunities. We also realize we did not hear from segments of the population including Spanish language speakers, people with disabilities and people experiencing homelessness. The Library strives to reach out to underrepresented user groups and we look forward to convening additional conversations in the future to fill in the gaps in our understanding of different perspectives.
